Unlikely Shapes

Prompted by the exhibition, Instant Whip: The Textile and Papers of Fraser Taylor 1977–87 Revisited, at Reid Gallery and Window on Heritage, The Glasgow School of Art, Taylor has revisited his personal archive located in his studio.

This activity triggered the exhibition Unlikely Shapes and permitted him to recognise conceptual and material connections in his work both past and present. Unlikely Shapes investigates his continuing interest in the space between abstraction and figuration and consider multiple visual sources, both real and imagined. This exhibition also marks an expansion of the project HAXTON, exploring a new form of surface decoration in collaboration with ceramic artist Katie Nelis.
